(KMJ) – The Merced City Fire Department says masks donated by Girl Scouts helped save the lives of two pets from a burning home Thursday morning.
According to Merced City Fire, firefighters were called to a burning house around 8:30 a.m. on the 1000 block of West 14th Street. Firefighters say no injuries were reported, but one dog named Oreo and a cat named Sassafras were pulled from the home.
That’s when donated pet masks from Girl Scout Troop 3003 came into play and saved their lives. In the photo above, you can see Oreo (Left) and Sassafras (Right) being treated for smoke inhalation by firefighters Merced City Fire adds pet masks make all the difference in emergency fire situations like this.
