Mother & Son Cuffed for Murder of 14 Yr Old Girl

On Sunday, January 3, 2021, just after 1:00 am, officers from the
Northeast Policing District responded to Maple Avenue just south of
Shaw regarding two shooting victims. Officers arrived and located a
14-year-old female juvenile and a 15-year-old male juvenile suffering
from gunshot wounds. Both juveniles were transported to local
hospitals. Despite lifesaving efforts from officers, EMS personnel, and
hospital staff, 14-year-old, Breana Gomez was unfortunately
pronounced deceased. The 15-year-old male juvenile was listed in
critical condition and survived his injuries.
Investigators learned that Gomez was leaving a house party in the
area and was walking with a group of juvenile friends on Maple
Avenue just before the shooting.
After a seven-month investigation, Homicide Detectives have
arrested a seventeen-year-old male suspect for Breana Gomez’s
death. The juvenile’s mother, forty-two-year-old Maria Gonzalez of
Fresno, was also arrested as an accessory to murder for her
involvement after the fact. Both were arrested on Friday, August 6,
2021, and booked into the Fresno County Jail and Fresno County
Juvenile Justice Campus.
