Elderly Woman Killed in Hit & Run in Fresno Identified

 

FRESNO, CA. (KMJ) — An elderly woman was killed in a hit-and-run crash Thursday night in Fresno.

She was identified by the Fresno County Coroner as 87-year-old Margarita Linares of Fresno.

Fresno police were called to the area of Olive Ave. and Fresno St. around 8:45 p.m. for a person reportedly struck by a vehicle.

When they arrived, they learned an elderly woman was hit by a white older-model SUV, possibly a  Ford Expedition, going east on Olive Ave.

Linares was taken to Community Regional Medical Center where she was pronounced dead,

Police say she was not using a crosswalk.

Police have video of the Expedition leaving the scene.

The driver is now wanted for felony hit-and-run, as well as manslaughter, according to Fresno police.
