Fresno Mayor Jerry Dyer originally said last Thursday the Pride Flag should not be flown at City Hall, and instead designated Eaton Plaza as a place where all groups could practice their freedoms of speech by raising flags there.

Mayor Dyer then issued a statement last Friday, saying after talking with hundreds of Fresno residents, he would allow the Pride Flag to fly at City Hall after all.

Fresno City Councilmembers Esmeralda Soria, Miguel Arias, Tyler Maxwell, Mike Karbassi, Luis Chavez and Council Vice President Nelson Esparza were at the Pride Flag raising ceremony Friday morning.

Fresno City Councilmembers Gary Bredefeld speaking on KMJ’s Broeske and Musson show on Friday voiced his concerns that since the Pride Flag was being flown then other groups would request that flags such as from Antifa and BLM would now be potentially up for consideration to be flown at Fresno City Hall.
