Fresno County GOP Blasts Congressman for Vote to Impeach The President

(KMJ) – Valley Congressman David Valadao was one of just ten House Republicans to side with Congressional Democrats Wednesday to vote to impeach President Trump a second time.

Following his vote, Valadao issued the following statement:

“President Trump was, without question, a driving force in the catastrophic events that took place on January 6 by encouraging masses of rioters to incite violence on elected officials, staff members, and our representative democracy as a whole.  I voted to impeach President Trump. His inciting rhetoric was un-American, abhorrent, and absolutely an impeachable offense. It’s time to put country over politics.”

But that brought a swift backlash from the Fresno County Republican Party.  It issued this statement regarding Valdao’s vote:

The Executive Board of the Fresno County Republican Party strongly condemns Congressman David Valadao for voting to impeach President Trump – who has been essential to the success of the Republican Party. Congressman Valadao’s vote, one of 10 Republican votes, is a slap in the face to those who worked on or donated to the congressman’s recent campaign. We applaud the 197 Republican House members who chose to support our President – who accomplished much more in four years than other Presidents have in eight years.

Congressman Valadao’s vote has shocked his constituents. We could have expected the same vote from former Congressman T. J. Cox.
