(KMJ) – The Bass Lake Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors announce the cancellation of its 2020 July 4th fireworks event due to concerns over COVID-19.

“It is with a lot of sadness and heartfelt discussion with community leaders and business partners that the Bass Lake Chamber has made the difficult decision to cancel the fireworks show this year,” says Theresa Wilson, President of the Bass Lake Chamber of Commerce. “Although this is disappointing news for all of us, you’d better believe that we’ll be back in 2021 with the biggest, best show the mountains have ever seen.”

The Chamber board adds the timing of this year’s Independence Day holiday (which is on a weekend) increased their concerns of larger crowds filling Bass Lake for the annual event.

Bass Lake itself remains open for recreational use.  But Chamber members remind those using the site to pack out whatever they pack in and park only in designated areas.
