Department of Justice Activates COVID-19 Fraud Hotline

(KMJ) – The Department of Justice says it has now enacted the National Center for Disaster Fraud Hotline.  The move comes as the FBI says fraudsters have now been working overtime to scam, plot and steal your money and/or personal information during the coronavirus pandemic.

Now, if you feel you have been a victim of a COVID-19 scam, you are asked to call 1-866-720-5721 or email [email protected].

This will connect you to the National Center for Disaster Fraud.  It is a national coordinating agency within the Department of Justice’s Criminal Division dedicated to improving the detection, prevention, investigation, and prosecution of criminal conduct related to natural and man-made disasters and other emergencies, such as the coronavirus (COVID-19).

Hotline staff will obtain information regarding your complaint, which will then be reviewed by law enforcement officials.
