Sequoia & Kings Canyon National Parks Now Closed to Visitors

(KMJ) – The National Parks Service has announced the immediate closure of Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks to all visitors until further notice.

According to a message on its official twitter page, the parks service says Highway 180 will remain open for pass-thru traffic to access Giant Sequoia National Monument and private property. All other roads and parking facilities are temporarily closed.

In announcing this closure, the Park Service says, “The health and safety of our visitors, employees, volunteers, and partners is our number one priority. The NPS is working service-wide with federal, state, and local authorities to closely monitor the COVID-19 pandemic.”

This decision comes after Yosemite National Park announced its closure to visitors earlier this week.
