Fresno State Temporarily Suspending In-Person, On-Campus Classes

FRESNO, CA (KMJ) – Fresno State is temporarily suspending in-person, on-campus classes, effective Monday, March 16, in order to transition to virtual instruction next week.

This includes classes offered at the Visalia campus.

Virtual instruction will begin on Friday, March 20, after a transition period March 16 through 19 to allow faculty to prepare.

The campus will remain open for non-academic business as usual.

While there are currently no cases of COVID-19 related to their campus, Fresno State will temporarily suspend in-person, on-campus classes, effective Monday, March 16, in order to transition to virtual instruction next week.

This includes classes offered at their Visalia campus.

This decision was made with an abundance of caution and care for our campus community and after deliberation with the CSU Chancellor’s Office, the Academic Senate, the Joint Labor Council, local K-12 and community college leaders and local public health officials.

To allow faculty to make final preparations for virtual delivery of instruction, face-to-face classes are canceled from Monday, March 16, through Thursday, March 19. Virtual instruction will begin on Friday, March 20. Please note that online classes that have been ongoing since the beginning of the spring semester will continue as scheduled.

They currently anticipate the conclusion of alternative delivery of instruction and resumption of regular operations on Monday, April 27; however, that may be subject to change depending upon the status of the situation.

Campus will remain open for non-academic business as usual.
