Elderly Man Busted for Growing 2,300 Illegal Marijuana Plants in Squaw Valley

SQUAW VALLEY, CA (KMJ) – A 78-year-old Fresno County man is busted for growing illegal marijuana worth millions of dollars on his property in Squaw Valley.

The Fresno County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Charles Cooper on Friday, after serving a search warrant of his home.

Authorities discovered 2,300 marijuana plants growing inside of buildings on the property located on the 34,000 block of Bronco Lane.

The street value of the plants is estimated at more than $2 million dollars.

Detectives also found a handgun, a large amount of cash, 10 pounds of processed marijuana, and Carbofuran, a highly toxic insecticide banned in the U.S.

Cooper was charged with cultivating and possessing marijuana for sales.
