Tioga-Sequoia Brewing Co. Expanding to Downtown Merced

FRESNO, CA. (KMJ) – Tioga-Sequoia Brewing Company in Fresno has announced plans to open a taproom in Merced.

The new location is planned for the historic and perfectly named Tioga hotel in Downtown Merced.

The taproom is scheduled to open later this summer.

Ya’ll ready for this?!?? Our second big announcement of 2020! . The journey that lead us to Downtown Fresno in 2010 has finally revealed an additional path to a neighboring Central Valley city. Our pilgrimage though this decision comes with years of patiently looking for the right opportunity and the right community. We plan to bring the same passion, values, and commitment along with us on this new adventure and we are proud to announce our decision to expand to the great community of Merced. . Our plan is to develop a second brewery/taproom in Downtown Merced, all while embracing the local culture and flavor, giving our new location a unique identity all its own. “We get asked all the time about when and where we are going to build a second location,” said Michael Cruz, president of Tioga-Sequoia Brewing Company. “Well, I am excited to announce that we have found a city that we feel has tremendous potential, like values, passion for community, a university on the rise, and a downtown that is in its beginning stages of revitalization. My team and I thrive on growing with and embracing our community and I’m proud to say Downtown Merced is where we’d like to call our second home.”

For the past 7 years, Tioga-Sequoia has been supporting growth and entertainment in downtown Fresno, by hosting and producing community events such as FresYes Fest, Art Hop, Fresno Street Eats, plus live concerts that bring people from all over the area in the thousands.

Tioga-Sequoia’s Merced location will focus on the same support for downtown Merced that it’s shown for downtown Fresno.

“We are currently working with the developers of The Tioga, a historic hotel currently in renovation, as the site for our next brewery/taproom,” Cruz said. “We will announce further details to our plans as they progress, and we look forward to the potential of calling this beautiful historic building home.”
