FRESNO, CA (KMJ) – Valley Republican Congressman Devin Nunes is seeking more than $435,000,000 in compensatory and punitive damages from CNN for what he calls the “false and defamatory’ Ukraine story.
A 47-page lawsuit was filed Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.
Representative Nunes accuses the cable network of publishing a false hit piece about him on Nov. 22, 2019.
In the lawsuit, Nunes said the story claims that in 2018 he met with Ukranian Prosecutor, Viktor Shokin, in Vienna to dig “up dirt” on Joe Biden, and his son, Hunter.
Rep. Nunes says he “did not go to Vienna or anywhere else in Austria in 2018.”
Nunes said he “has never met” Shokin.
Congressman Nunes is scheduled to talk with KMJ’s Ray Appleton “sometime in the noon hour” on Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2019.
