Murder, DUI Filed Against Driver Who Allegedly Killed Central High Sophomore

FRESNO, CA (KMJ) – A murder charge is filed against the driver who allegedly struck and killed Central High Sophomore walking in Central Fresno.

The Fresno County DA’s Office says 54-year-old Albert Fimbrez struck and killed 16-year-old Dayvon McCoy by Shields and Valentine when he was walking with a friend.

The sophomore at Central High East High School died on impact.

His 14-year-old friend was injured.

Fimbrez was arrested on Tuesday morning by Fresno Police and booked him into the Fresno County Jail.

The DA’s Office has charged Fimbrez with felony murder, DUI and driving while his license was suspended for prior DUI conviction.

Fimbrez had a prior strike conviction for burglary in 1996.

If convicted he faces 39 years-to-life in custody.

He remains in custody and his Arraignment is scheduled Friday, November 8.
