Actress Felicity Huffman Gets 14 Days in Prison, 250 Hours Community Service & 30K Fine

BOSTON, MA (KMJ) – Actress Felicity Huffman gets 14 days in prison during sentencing taking place in federal court Friday in Boston.

The Oscar nominee was also sentenced to one year supervised release, 250 hours community service and a $30,000 fine

She is the first person being sentenced for taking part in a sweeping college admissions scandal dubbed “Operation Varsity Blues.”

She pleaded guilty to paying to rig her daughter’s SAT scores.

TV actress Lori Loughlin and other parents, including some from the Bay Area and Southern California would be no doubt closely watching the judge’s sentence for Huffman to for a indication how their cases might proceed.

U.S. District Court Judge Indira Talwani considered the prosecutors’ request that Huffman be sentenced to at least one month in prison and a $20,000 fine, and her attorneys’ request for a year of probation, a $20,000 fine and 250 hours of community service,

The judge split the difference with the 14-day sentence, kept the probation and increased the fine.

According to reports from inside the court, Huffmans’s attorneys also asked that her time be served at the a low-security federal prison in Dublin.
