Andy Hall Named Fresno Police Chief, Replaces Dyer Immediately

(KMJ)  As longtime FPD Chief Jerry Dyer transitions into the world of politics, Deputy Police Chief Andy Hall has been tapped as his replacement, beginning immediately.

Fresno Mayor Lee Brand and City Manager Wilma Quan made the announcement Friday, as heard live on KMJ.

Hall’s tenure won’t last very long, however.  Hall is facing mandatory retirement from the department in Spring 2021 through the deferred retirement program.

While Chief Hall said he did not apply to be the city’s top cop, he maintained his commitment to the position and the department.  “I promise you that we will be held accountable for our actions,” Hall told the gathering in downtown Fresno on Friday.

Chief Hall had a glowing synopsis of his predecessor’s career.  “We have been so blessed to have Chief Dyer as our leader for the past 18 years.  He’s a once-in-a- lifetime person.  I can only hope to be half the leader he is.”
