Five candidates are running for a seat on the Fresno City Council, to replace Steve Brandau.
County Clerk Brandi Orth says historically, special elections see a lower voter turnout, but her staff is trying to make it easy to have your vote counted.
“We have 23 physical polling places locations within city council district two area,” Orth said.
44-thousand people are registered to vote in District 2, if you don’t know your polling place, it’s on the back of your voter info guide, or you can look it up at www.fresnovote.com.
“Of course I want 100% participation, but right now we have a little over 7,000 vote by mail ballots returned, that’s about 16% of the electorate so far,” Orth said.
If no candidate gets 50% plus one vote tonight, the race will go to runoff, that election will be held Tuesday, November 5th.
Polls close at eight.
