(KMJ) – The Kern County Coroner’s Office confirms the identity of the body found inside a submerged SUV is that of the missing City Manager of McFarland.
57-year old John Wooner has been missing since May 14th. But crews pulled a sliver Dodge Durango from the waters of the Kern River Sunday, with his body still inside it.
The coroner’s office verified Wooner’s identity using dental records, but the exact cause of his death has yet to be determined, pending an autopsy.
Upon hearing the confirmation of Wooner’s death, McFarland Mayor Manuel Cantu issued the following statement:
“The City of McFarland offers its condolences to the Wooner Family. Mayor Manuel Cantu asks all citizens to offer their prayers in support of the family.”
