Visitors Evacuated as Brush Fire Threatens Magic Mountain

A brush fire caused the evacuation of Magic Mountain and Hurricane Harbor Sunday.

FRESNO (KMJ) – Adrenaline junkies at a popular LA area amusement park got more than they bargained for when a brush fire threatened the park.
Six Flags Magic Mountain and Hurricane Harbor closed early Sunday after a brush fire broke out nearby and sent hundreds of visitors running from heavy smoke.
The fire broke out around noon and quickly grew to about 30 acres.
It set off panic and confusion as visitors were first told by the park to evacuate and then told by firefighters to stay put while they worked to contain the flames.
Visitors said many people didn’t know where they were supposed to go as smoke enveloped the park.
Nearly a dozen people were taken to the hospital for smoke and heat issues, and the I-5 Magic Mountain off-ramp was closed for nearly two hours.
Today, the fire is out and Six Flags says the park is open for business as usual.
