FRESNO (KMJ) – A pair of local lawmakers are on a peacemaking trip… of sorts.
Fresno councilmembers Miguel Arias and Esmeralda Soria, in Washington DC to meet with members of congress on a range of Valley issues, but they also made time to check in with New York City Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
“I think it was important for us to come meet with her,” Councilmember Esmeralda Soria said. “She was very gracious with her time.”
Ocasio-Cortez made the news over the Memorial Day weekend when she was featured in an internet video played on the Chuckchansi scoreboard that included her in a montage of dictators. The Grizzlies apologized for the mistake.
“Accepted our apology and we gave her a little gift, and she expressed her support for Fresno,” Soria said.
