
FRESNO – A boisterous crowd consisting of dozens of supporters, and a handful of protesters greeted Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer as he announced his candidacy for mayor.
“I’m fighting back some tears right now, quite frankly, just hearing that level of support,” Dyer said.
Dyer touched on the issues he believes are most important to Fresnans.
“I make no greater commitment, than to ensure every single resident of Fresno, that they are safe. That they are safe in their homes, and they are safe in their neighborhoods.”
the chief says he’s ready for a tough campaign.
“There is no north Fresno way, there is no south Fresno way, there is one Fresno way, and that is what we are going to do,” Dyer said.
Dyer joins former congressional candidate Andrew Janz.
and city councilman Luis Chavez.
Current Mayor Lee Brand is not seeking a second term.
