Fresno Unified Releases Video of Incident Between Board Member and Student

FRESNO, CA (KMJ) – Fresno Unified releases video of an incident between a board member and a student.

Fresno Unified’s Board of Education released the video on Wednesday, showing an incident between a student and a newly-elected Fresno Unified Board Member, Terry Slatic,.

According to a FUSD spokesperson, on Friday, January 11, school had already let out, and a Bullard High School student was waiting by the snack bar for the final after-school snack, before the weekend.

As the video shows, both Slatic, and his assistant, Michelle Asadoorian, who is a past trustee, walk by the student.

The video shows Slatic stop, turn around and approach the student.

He then grabs the student’s backpack and jerks him back.

The student drops the backpack and then squares up, then quickly picks up his backpack and runs off.

Fresno Police were called to the school and finished their initial report, which has since been turned over to the Fresno County District Attorney’s Office for review.

Fresno Unified says it is conducting it’s own investigation and has concluded no disciplinary action will be taken against the student.

A special closed session meeting of the School Board was held Tuesday afternoon to discuss the incident.
