Retired Merced Police Officer Arrested for Embezzlement

FRESNO, CA (KMJ) – A retired Merced Police Officer is arrested for Embezzlement.

Joseph Deliman was arrested Tuesday following a year long investigation by the California Department of Justice.

California Attorney General Xavier Becerra says Deliman allegedly embezzled more than $80,000 from the Merced Police Officers’ Association over a three-year period.

Deliman was the union president and treasurer.

Attorney General Becerra says Deliman allegedly used funds for personal expenses and vacations, including trips to Las Vegas and Niagara Falls.

Deliman was booked into the Merced County Jail on $20,000 bail, and charged with grand theft.

His arraignment is scheduled for November 30th.
