REPORT: U.S. Service Member Killed in Jet Crash in Ukraine

FRESNO, CA (KMJ) – A United States service member was reportedly killed in a crash in Ukraine on Tuesday.

Members of the U.S. Air Force, including the Air National Guard 144th Fighter Wing, based in Fresno, are participating in a special operation in Ukraine, as part of Clear Sky 2018.

The training exercise included U.S. aircraft from the California Air National Guard, including F-15C Eagles and a C-130J Super Hercules, in addition to an F-15D from the 48th Fighter Wing, KC-135s from the Illinois Air National Guard and the 100th Air Refueling Wing.

The report says a Ukrainian Su-27UB fighter aircraft crashed in the Khmelnytskyi region, killing a Ukrainian and an American.

The incident is currently under investigation and the military has confirmed a U.S. service member was involved but is not releasing any other information at this time.
