FRESNO, CA (KMJ) – A measure for valley fever, passed the Legislature with unanimous support Monday.

AB 1787 was co-authored by Assemblymember Rudy Salas and Assemblymember Vince Fong.

The bill would require more consistency in the reporting of valley fever cases in order to have the accuracy needed to appropriately respond and provide resources where most needed.

Another bill authored by Salas, AB 1788, also passed on Monday, which would allow a modified case definition that allows positive laboratory test data to confirm cases of valley fever.

All bills must either be signed into law or vetoed by Governor Brown by September 30.
