(KMJ) –  Cal Fire says says an explosive wildfire burning in Shasta County has killed a bulldozer operator and is pushing closer to the city of Redding.

The Carr Fire has been burning since Monday afternoon.  Thursday, a privately hired bulldozer operator was killed and  three firefighters were burned while battling this blaze.  The man’s body was found later that day.

Cal Fire spokesman Scott McLean adds an unknown number of civilians have also suffered burns but didn’t know the extent. He says the fire is “taking everything down in its path.” \

The Carr Fire has burned dozens of homes in the communities of Shasta, Keswick and the west side of Redding, a city of about 92,000 people.

McLean says the situation is chaotic as Redding residents who had little warning try to evacuate.
