How You Can Help Crews Battling The Ferguson Fire

(KMJ) – The Ferguson Fire continues to grow in Mariposa County near Yosemite National Park.  More than 3,000 fire personnel are working to contain this blaze as it burns in the Merced River Canyon.

If you wish to help these crews, here are a few things you can do.

Most appreciated by firefighters:

· Thank you notes and banners

· Thank you messages posted to https://www.facebook.com/SierraNF/https://www.facebook.com/CALFIREMMU/,

· Donations to Wildland Firefighter Foundation: http://www.wffoundation.org/

Although we appreciate your baked goods:

· Due to health and federal contract regulations, we cannot accept any food items.

Note: Local food bank donations tend to decrease when the public chooses to donate their food to fire camp- we feed our assigned fire crews three meals a day including snacks.

The Best Suggestions:

· Mariposa County residents can contact Voluntary Organizations Active in Disasters (VOAD) to confirm their specific needs. (206) 966-5911 or (559) 683-4911
