Victim Identified By Coroner’s Office In Southeast Fresno Homicide Case

FRESNO, CA (KMJ) – The Coroner’s Office has released the name of a Fresno man who was shot in what is now being called a homicide case.

On May 13th – Mother’s Day, 46 year-old Luis Mariscal was shot near a home at Madison and Chestnut in Southeast Fresno.

Mariscal was rushed to CRMC where he later died on Wednesday, May 23, 2018.

“Very convoluted story – sounds like there were shooters from the house. also. There was a small black SUV involved”, said Fresno Police Lieutenant Joe Gomez. “We also received information from other witnesses that a red vehicle was involved that was shot possibly by people that were inside the residence.”

The search continues for suspects with investigators asking anyone with information on this shooting to call Valley Crime Stoppers at 4-9-8 STOP.

The Mariscal Family set-up a GoFundMe page asking for Donations and prayers in helping with funeral costs as they prepare “to rest their beloved father, a husband, grandfather, brother, uncle and son.”

On their GoFundMe page, Mariscal’s family wrote; “He was a lover of God and a friend to many.” They continued by saying that “Luis lost his life saving the ones of his grandchildren by taking a bullet in a home shooting. His last days were spent surrounded by his family and grandchildren in the hospital.”
