Officer-Involved Shooting In Earlimart Sends Suspected Car Thief To Hospital

FRESNO, CA (KMJ) – An officer involved shooting Monday morning in Tulare County, leaves a suspect injured.

A suspect was shot by an officer in Earlimart, in the area of Armstrong Avenue and South State Street.

The California Highway Patrol and Tulare County Sheriff’s Office were both involved.

The Sheriff’s Office said around 10:00 a.m., deputies were working with the CHP, investigating a stolen vehicle when an altercation broke out between the officers and the suspect.

 

UPDATE: Officials talk to media about OISTulare County Sheriff’s Office and the CHP were investigating a stolen vehicle in the area of Armstrong and State in Earlimart Monday morning. An altercation ensued and there was an Officer Involved Shooting involving both agencies. One suspect was shot and is currently being treated at an area hospital. Detectives are on scene for further.The suspect has non-life-threatening injuries. Porterville Police are investigating the OIS.

Officers from both agencies fired at the man.

The suspect was taken to the hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.

A passenger in the stolen SUV was later arrested.

The Sheriff’s Office said all the officers involved are OK.

The shooting remains under investigation by the Porterville Police Department.
