DWR Updates Repair Work At Lake Oroville Dam

FRESNO, CA (KMJ) – The Department of Water Resources provided an update Wednesday on the Lake Oroville Spillways Emergency Recovery Project.

One major milestone — construction on the underground secant pile cutoff wall at the emergency spillway was completed on March 7th.

In February, crews began construction of the concrete splashpad, to reduce the erosion that took place during the incident in February of 2017.

Phase Two of construction on the main spillway is expected to begin in May, and later this year, a buttress will be constructed to provide further reinforcement.

At the request of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, the DWR submitted its outline to address recommendations in the Independent Forensic Team’s final report.

The 2017/18 Lake Oroville Winter Operations Plan will be updated after DWR’s April 1st snowpack survey.

The updated Plan will account for snowpack runoff forecasts and reservoir conditions for the remainder of the rainy season.
