FRESNO, CA (KMJ) – Police are investigating a student who brought a weapon to campus at Lemoore High School.
The school sent a message to parents on Monday, after students saw it in the 16 year-old’s backpack at school and reported it.
Officers searched the student’s residence in Lemoore and confiscated the weapon, an illegal pistol with a high capacity magazine.
More firearms were confiscated including one inside a vehicle owned by the student’s father, 47 year-old, David Escalera Sr.
Escalera Sr was arrested for felony child endangerment, criminal storage of a firearm, possession of an assault weapon, and possession of a firearm with altered serial numbers.
He was booked in the Kings County Jail with bail set at $95,000 dollars.
The student was arrested and booked into the Kings County Juvenile Center.
The investigation showed that the student did not make any threats toward the school or others.
