China Peak Temporarily Closed – Not Enough Snow For Skiers

FRESNO, CA (KMJ) – China Peak Mountain Resort seeing too little snow to remain open, for now.

The resort had to close in early January, and had just reopened on January 26.

Officials said they will open on a moment’s notice, once the area gets enough snow.

Resort officials says they’re looking for 18 inches, and are temporarily closed until the resort gets more natural snow to open up the upper mountain lifts and trails.

Resort officials say they are hopeful about a potential extended season.

Historically, they’ve seen heavy snowfall come in the second half of the season, and that can take them into April and May.
