FRESNO, CA (KMJ) – The deadline to sign up for protection from an Equifax data breach is running out.
California Attorney General Xavier Becerra is reminding all Californians to sign up for free credit monitoring before the deadline on Wednesday, January 31st.
An Equifax data breach announced back in September affected 145 million Americans and over 15 million Californians.
The breach lasting mid-May through July, and compromised names, Social Security numbers, birth dates, addresses and, in some instances, driver’s license numbers.
Attorney General Becerra says to enroll in free credit monitoring, Californians should visit the website equifaxsecurity2017.com.
Anyone who has trouble signing up is encouraged to immediately file a report with his office.
