US Attorney Calls Gun Seizure Possibly Largest In Fresno History

FRESNO, CA (KMJ) – Hundreds of firearms are removed from the streets in what the US Attorney is calling possibly the largest seizure in the city of Fresno.

A months long investigation leads to the arrest of a convicted felon from Fresno.

39 year-old James Bowen was busted last week.

ATF working with the MAGEC anti-gang team made a series of purchases to catch him.

U.S. Attorney McGregor Scott says 221 firearms were seized, rifles, shotguns, handguns, silencers & ammo worth almost $300,000 on the streets.

“This is one of if not the largest seizure in the city of Fresno.” – U.S. Attorney McGregor Scott.

The case was presented to the grand jury this morning, and Bowen was indicted today on four counts of possessing and selling firearms.

Tips by citizens led to the investigation, and ultimately to the bust.

The US Attorney says often times the same gun is involved in multiple shootings.

ATF’s Jennifer Cicolani says this is just a sample of the guns on the street, and there is more work to be done.
