California dairy producers need help to stay in business.
It’s costing more to produce milk than what they’re getting paid for it.
As a result, many of these family run businesses have gone out of business or have taken on massive amounts of debt.
Western United Dairymen and The California Dairy Campaign filed a petition with the California Department of Food and Agriculture asking for an emergency hearing.
They say the hearing is needed to consider increasing milk prices paid to producer for 12 months.
The CDFA has until February 2nd to respond to the hearing request.
