Deadly Weekend Of Domestic Violence In Fresno

FRESNO, CA (KMJ) – Fresno police responded to two separate incidents of deadly domestic violence over January 20th and 21st.

Early Saturday morning, January a shooting took place at the Lexington Apartments on North Glenn.

Fresno Police say 38-year old Lauren Sampson was behind the gun.

Lieutenant Joe Gomez says officers arrived to hear the shot.

“They were ready to go up… the front door opens and the injured male – the male that was shot – he drags himself out on the porch.” – Lt. Joe Gomez.

Lt. Gomez says Sampson then turned the gun, killing herself before officers entered the apartment. Her target was left in critical condition — but he was expected to survive.

The second act of violence just before 6:00 Sunday night at the Westlake Mobile Home Park near Ashlan and Marks.

A woman had called police twice, first, to say there was a fight, and later that her son had stabbed her husband.

Fresno Police officers arrived to find 62 year old Mitchel Shaffer in front of the home with one stab wound.

He did not survive the injury and died at the hospital.

Police still investigating both cases. If you have any information call Crimestoppers at 559-498-STOP.
