FRESNO, CA (KMJ) – A Porterville woman is arrested for the death of her 5 month-old baby daughter.
Porterville Police arrived at 9:00 on Monday night to Sierra View Medical Center on report of an infant that arrived for treatment that was not breathing.
The baby was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Police say the cause of death was immediately identified as suspicious because the child had major injuries.
Detectives searched the child’s home on the 300 block of South G Street and collected evidence. The parents of the little girl were interviewed at the police department.
As a result of their investigation, the child’s mother, 20 year-old Angelica Castro, was arrested for the child’s death.
She was booked into the custody of the Tulare County Sheriff for homicide and is being held without bail.
