FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — Days after becoming a sanctuary state that prohibits law enforcement from complying with federal officials on certain immigration matters, a Democratic lawmaker is pushing legislation to take that model and apply it to marijuana issues.
The Golden State is once again at odds with the feds, as U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions has ordered the Department of Justice to target pot growers and sellers, while the state has legalized the industry.
Assemblyman Reggie Jones-Sawyer has revived a measure to prevent law enforcement from working with federal drug enforcement agencies, without a court order.
A similar measure stalled in the Senate, back in June.
