Nominations Being Accepted For Leon S. Peters Award

FRESNO, CA (KMJ) – Applications are now being accepted for the 2018 Leon S. Peters Award.

Leon S. Peters donated millions of dollars for the betterment of Fresno, he was a businessman, civic leader and philanthropist.

Fresno Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Nathan Ahle says they carry on his legacy with the award created back in 1984.

“The Chamber’s done this for decades now to honor and recognize the life and service of the late of Leon S. Peters who literally spent decades in service in the business community and to the community of Fresno.” – Nathan Ahle, CEO Fresno Chamber of Commerce.

Last year’s winner was Bill Smittcamp (seen above), the CEO and President of Wawona Frozen Foods and Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Valley Children’s Hospital.

“Applications can be submitted through November the 17th.” – Nathan Ahle, CEO Fresno Chamber of Commerce.

CEO Ahle says they expect dozens of nominations to come into the Chamber for this year’s award which will be announced in late January or early February of 2018.

Nominees for the prestigious award must be submitted by another member of the community and the nominee is required to embody traits consistent with the life of Leon S. Peters.
