Berkeley Study Blames Nevada Gun Shows for Violence in CA

FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — A new UC Berkeley study claims gun-related deaths and injuries increase by 70 percent of in areas of California, following gun shows in neighboring Nevada, where there are fewer regulations.

Researchers say rates of firearm injuries remain steady after shows in the Golden State, which they attribute to tougher restrictions.

The most notable difference between gun shows in the two states is the 10-day waiting period, which the study says buyers are bypassing, by driving into Nevada.

The National Rifle Association says it’s reviewing the findings.
