FRESNO, CA (KMJ) – A fundraising dinner Friday night benefits an organization with a mission to help one woman.
Fresno’s chapter of the non-profit organization H.O.W. – Helping One Woman – was founded by two women, Charlotte Bavaro and Brenda Critzer back in 2008.
Now there are over 12 chapters around the United States. Attendees pay for their dinner and a $10 dollar donation for the chosen woman who Bavaro says receives comfort and support at a time when she most needs hope restored to her life.
A dinner will be held at Pardini’s on Friday, September 15th to raise money that will help the organization continue its work.
“When I’m having a bad day it’s important for me to know that I have people who are there for me. I can’t even imagine how it would mean for woman who are going though what we call an irreplaceable loss.” – Charlotte Bavaro, Co-founder H.O.W. (above right, with dinner attendee).
And that loss could be cancer, the death of a child or a life-altering event. Bavaro says the dinners that she organizes monthly help the recipient the most by connecting her with other women in the community.
“It’s something that is without an agenda, other than helping one woman each month, it’s something that’s positive, it’s something that brings people together rather than dividing them, and our recipients – it helps them know that they are not alone.” – Charlotte Bavaro, Co-founder H.O.W.
H.O.W. MOTTO:
One woman with $10.00 can buy another woman lunch.
Ten women with $10.00 can buy another woman’s groceries.

Their monthly Helping One Woman dinner is September 19th at 6:00 p.m. at Romano’s Macaroni Grill on Blackstone.
