Fresno Council Delays Pot, CCW Issues

(KMJ)  Press the pause button on pot and conceal-carry debates at City Hall.

On Thursday, the Fresno City Council decided to delay discussions on the two issues that had KMJ listeners fired up over the past few weeks.

Councilor Garry Bredefeld is in the middle of both of the controversial items.  The District 6 representative wants to allow city employees, who are licensed, to carry concealed weapons while on duty.

Both Mayor Lee Brand and FPD Chief Jerry Dyer have voiced their opposition to the idea.

Bredefeld’s proposal to limit recreational marijuana cultivation was also delayed.

Both topics will return to the council agenda on Aug. 24th.
