Bail Remains $560K For Teen Who Allegedly Live Streamed Crash

(KMJ) – The bail amount will remain the same, $560,000, for 18-year-old Obdulia Sanchez whose bail hearing was on Friday.  Sanchez is the teen who allegedly caused a fatal DUI crash outside Los Banos while live-streaming.  Sanchez’s public defender, Ramnik Samrao, says that’s too high. “[Sanchez] is a foster child,” says Samrao. “She has been [a foster child] for a few years now.  She has $200 to her name.”

Despite the high bail amount, Samrao says he thinks that the judge is still acting fairly.  “I don’t think [the judge] would try to make an example out of her,” said Samrao.  “Everything so far has proceeded as the same as any other case I’ve had in front of this judge.  I don’t think there’s anything unusual going on so far.”

Samrao says that the judge stated at the bail hearing that he has not seen the viral video from inside the car – which has propelled this case into the national media.  Sanchez’s next hearing is set for August 11th.
