FRESNO, CA (KMJ) – Charges are filed by the DA in Tulare County in an officer involved shooting, Saturday night.
It happened inside a 99 cents store near Henderson and Indiana.
18 year-old Carmen Buttram was waving a knife, and told Porterville Police they’d have to shoot her to get her to drop it.
Faering for the safety of customers, they shot and hit her twice. Buttram’s in stable condition at Kaweah Delta Medical Center.

The District Attorney’s Office has filed the following charges:
(2) counts of Assault with a deadly weapon, a felony.
(1) count of Exhibiting a deadly weapon with the intent to resist or prevent arrest, a felony.
(3) counts of Exhibiting a deadly weapon in the presence of any other person in a threatening manner, a misdemeanor.
(1) count of Resisting arrest by means of threat or violence, a felony.
(1) count of Vandalism, a felony.
The officer involved in the shooting – Officer Mark Lightfoot – has been a law enforcement officer for 20 years, with the first 10 years being with the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office, and has been with the Porterville Police Department since 2007. Officer Lightfoot remains on Administrative Leave – standard protocol.
