Fresno State Considering Selling Beer at Football Games

FRESNO, CA (KMJ) – Fresno State will once again be allowed to serve alcohol at football games.

California State University Chancellor Timothy White issued an executive order at the end of June, which overturns the prohibition on alcohol sales at athletic events that was enacted in 2005.

Fresno State released a statement on Wednesday, saying they’re considering a plan to sell alcohol at athletic events.

“The California State University recently issued a new Executive Order on June 30, 2017, that removes the prior prohibition on the sale and service of alcoholic beverages at University intercollegiate athletic events. This new Executive Order permits each CSU campus to decide if it will sell alcoholic beverages at its intercollegiate athletic events.

“Fresno State is considering the sale of alcohol at some of its athletic venues, but will exercise operational discretion within each venue as appropriate.  We are also working to develop a campus policy within the next few weeks that will include specific requirements as required by Executive Order 1109 including a proposed operational plan for implementation this fall.”
