Study: Lumosity Brain Games Don’t Improve Cognitive Function

FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — You may remember these TV and internet ads for Lumosity games, which claimed that customers’ would perform better on the job, and preserve mental capacity.

According to a new study from the University of Pennsylvania, those claims are largely unfounded.

Participants were given so-called intense Lumosity training 5 times a week for 10 weeks.

Despite promises stating otherwise, their cognitive skills were virtually the same, as those who spent the same amount of time playing video games.

The Federal Trade Commission has fined the company $2 million, saying their promises are deceptive.
