Study: Extra-Virgin Olive Oil May Help Preserve Brain Function

FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — Cooking with extra-virgin olive oil could help guard against cognitive decline.

Researchers at Temple University says it appears to reduce the formation of plaques in the brain, which can lead to Alzheimer’s disease.

Olive oil is a key part of a Mediterranean diet, of the which the positive health impacts have been known for years.

The study’s author’s say they’re hoping to determine whether it can stop, or even reverse, a decline in mental capacity.
