SELMA, Calif. (KMJ) — A man killed in an officer-involved shooting in Selma has been identified as 45-year-old Johnny Platas.
The Fresno Country Sheriff’s Office says it began as a domestic violence call Monday night.
A woman reported her neighbor at her door suffering from severe cuts, after her husband had allegedly assaulted her with a knife.
When Selma PD arrived, they found Platas still armed with the knife, on the roof of a home.
He was struck by a taser, and climbed down, but officers say he then went after them; that’s when he was shot several times and killed.
The departments are investigating; all officers involved have been placed on paid administrative leave.
