FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — Former Fresno Deputy Police Chief Keith Foster is facing time in federal prison, after he was nabbed back in 2015 for allegedly supplying oxycodone pills to his nephew, Randy Flowers, a convicted felon.
Foster’s trial is set to begin Tuesday.
Flowers accepted a plea deal last month, resulting in drug charges against him being dropped, a lighter prison sentence, as well as his not having to testify against his uncle.
Foster was a major presence in the Fresno Police Department, and there were hopes he would one day become the chief.
But, after learning of his arrest, Chief Jerry Dyer said illegal actions like those with which Foster has been charged, “erode the trust that members of this community have in its police department.”
Foster’s trial is expected to last several weeks.
