FRESNO, CA (KMJ) – Tree mortality has been a big problem throughout California because of the drought the last several years, as well as bark beetles.
Pacific Gas & Electric is removing dead trees and dead tree debris across ten counties which have declared tree mortality emergencies – incluidng Fresno, Madera and Tulomne counties. So far this year, the company has removed 57,000 trees and delivered 52,000 tons of dead tree debris to new biomass generation facilities.
PG&E says the trees present a fire hazard – particularly those next to power lines. They are going around the counties, marking dead trees for removal. But if they haven’t visited you yet – and you think you have a dead tree that needs to be removed – click here.
