FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — When it comes to advice for your career, it may be best to take it with a grain of salt, especially if it comes from those close you.
A new Accounttemps survey finds 66 percent of employees have been given bad advice at some point, with the most common source being friends.
Among the questionable advice those surveyed say they’ve received:
Lie on your resume, they expect you to.
Make your resume very long.
Respond with the first thing that pops into your head during an interview.
Rake credit for others’ work, so you can get ahead.
Experts say while friends and family often have good intentions, it may be best to get a few outside perspectives.
